Standard #6: The teacher understands and uses multiple methods of assessment to engage learners in their own growth, to monitor learner progress, and to guide the teacher’s and learner’s decision making.

Rationale: The SAPA assignment was completed during my semester of student teaching. The project involves the administration of a pre-test, the execution of three lesson plans based on the pre-assessment data, and re-administration of the pre-test as a post-test. The SAPA not only demonstrates my ability to develop an appropriate assessment of my students’ prior knowledge, but also showcases the skills necessary to analyze assessment data. By analyzing this data effectively, I am able to monitor student growth and progress while guiding decision making.
