Rationale: This essay written for the Diversity in the Classroom course is a response to a research study conducted to find connections between student demographics and school shootings. The study found that students of particular ethnicities, genders, and backgrounds are more likely to commit acts of violence based on intrinsic factors. My response to this study has led me to conclude that it is our responsibility to create classroom environments that account for these differences in background, culture, or any other identification. I will accomplish this by encouraging an understanding of diversity for my students to create an inclusive learning environment.
