Music

Growing up, I was surrounded by music. My dad loved the Beatles and Fleetwood Mac and would sing to me all the time. My mom sang in our church’s choir and our community’s Choral Society. My brother was 7 years older than me, so by the time I was in elementary school, he was already playing in band and singing in chorus. I never considered NOT being a musician.

I began piano lessons when I was 6 years old. I remember accompanying my 7th grade choir on Bach’s “Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring” and after that, I began accompanying often. In 5th grade I joined beginning band and started playing the Alto Saxophone. I continued playing through high school and found a love of Jazz. I only played the Sax a couple years in college because I was involved in so many choral groups, but I still love picking it up and playing on occasion. My dream is to one day take Cello lessons.

Musical Theatre is also a passion of mine. I have performed in such musicals as Chicago, Jekyll & Hyde, Miss Saigon, The Wizard of Oz, and most recently Elf, the musical. I have also directed many musicals including Annie Jr., The Little Mermaid Jr., Aladdin Jr., Beauty and the Beast Jr., and several others. My favorite thing about musical theater is how it brings a group of people together to reach a common goal. I love how each group becomes like an extended family.

Favorite Band

Paramore! I saw Paramore live back in 2006 and I got hooked. I’ve seen them three times since then and I still get chills every single time.

Favorite Singer...at the moment

Jessica Vosk. She played Elphaba in Wicked on Broadway and her voice is insane. I could listen to her all day.
